The famous Santa Monica Pier is one thing that lives up to its name. No, it's not the Eiffel Tower tower or the Burj Khalifa but it's one of those iconic places e v e r y o n e and I do mean everyone visits when they come to LA. It's always crowded and full of colorful characters. As a local, it's a cool place to go, but you hesitate because of the crowds.
For me it holds a lot of meaning because I have several great memories from just hanging out, to being there with my family. As a photographer it provides an endless amount of opportunities. The thing is, when you see images on IG or other sites, they all look (or try to look) alike. The slow shutter speed of the ferris wheel, under the pier, etc. There are numerous photo shoots going on at anytime of the day and that's understandable and sort of humorous.
These images are from the last time I was there. I wanted to capture a few of the vendors who are there everyday faithfully providing their goods to visitors from all over the world.
Of course I couldn't resist the sunset and the surprise encounter with the wildlife.
